For the retired type
My job, Union Crane Operator.
Clearwater paper, the new owners, seem like good company to be with, 29 years in, powerhouse on left , plupmill on the right.
We make bleached board paper, think cups , paper plates, folding cartons that are white on both sides, crown Royale boxes, cigarette boxes
My grapple, rated 40 tons, tested to 100
About 15 tons in it now, short hardwood.
Cranes about 90 ft high 400 Ft span rides on rails
When it's misting rain it will hydro plane, no brakes, takes about 50 ft to stop thanks to the dynamic motors

You ever get rained on when there’s “not a cloud in the sky”?

Intersting career 100% focus and know your surroundings . It's not a job a lot of people could hhandle including that type of environment
Tower cranes require special operator for sure. And I am far from that person
I tip my hard hat to you Thanks For the photos
I worked construction when I was younger for 13 years , i was union also but hated heights not a good combination LOL.
I worked around some great operators I would call them surgeons with heavy equipment . And i trusted my life too daily

My nephew is rated in all kinds of cranes. He has had some very interesting jobs in the past. He just moved back to Washington from Florida where he was working on KEN Griffin‘s house. I think the only thing he does not do is the tower cranes and I don’t blame him. Those things fall over!

I would have retired the first minute they put me on that job. Step ladders are too high for me.

YYes I did
Frigging iron workers got me years ago
My hard hat to the start and I jumped out of the way
Iam sure they had started before I walked into the area
It may have been just water as it had no smell but I was not sticking around to find out and sure not going to say i may have ben peed on one time only and I learned a lesson
Always look up when walking under a crane or red iron framed building
