yesterday at age 90. Talk about going out with "your boots on!"
At age 90, to go out doing what you love to do, how much better can it be!
I rate that as a life well lived!

In the video, we see only the last few seconds, but it appeared to be the classic "Insufficient altitude to recover" from either a loop or a split-S maneuver. In other words, he started the maneuver too low.

From the video I watched........it looked like he ran out of altitude, at the bottom of an inside loop.

The "Earthrise" photo he took during Apollo 8 has been rated the single most important photo ever taken because it was the first time humans saw their beautiful, delicate, blue home in space.

This man did so much. It’s incredible really. Any one of these things would be a lifetime achievement.

Also, a very cool man ( he fell asleep waiting for the Apollo 8 launch) and a humble man, one who did “it” without bragging about it

Being 90 is not young to be a pilot. Anything could have happened.

I thought maybe is was distracted driving, texting or at age 90 went to sleep at the wheel.
