With the blender broken I want to have more salsa.
I've gone decades without looking at let alone using the blender but since I can't use it (I haven't figured out hot they use a drill to run the blades) more I wanna use it. Using the blender to make salsa is a very recent thing. I took pride in making my salsa (Pico De Gallo) but since I started to oven roast the maters, onions and chilis and blend it in to a smoothie I am a changed man (read even more lazy).
I think I'll try using the suribachi (yes like the mountain) the Japanese molcajite a.k.a mortar and pestle. Gonna try this before forking over cash for a real Molcajite or a new blender. The Molcajite I want ain't cheap especially the shipping. I wanna try making salsa by just crushing it. Same ingredients different methods.

Salsa is supposed to be chunky not mashed or like catsup.
Can't think of a single ingredient that should be in a blender or mortar and pestle.

I'm gonna let the O.G. Gringo Mexicano do the schooling. Also Pace isn't the only salsa out there.

While shopping for ingredients/condiments for pho I bought some 'maters for salsa since some ingredients are shared between the two. Any ways the 'maters were extra shiny today for some reason like they were shellacked. I say shellacked because the shiny flacked on to my hands like fish scales.
So on the way to pay I went by the kitchen tool area. I saw me a molcajete 8" made by Imusa for $38. Made in China (they took their job!!!). It was granite and machine made so half price wasn't bad. I Figure Granite is kind a like Basalt.
