General Discussion issues anyone?
Am I the only one who can't get it to open?

It's in the hands of our host and our HQ, both we have not heard from. Sorry

They sure aren't as fast as Capt' Fun's propeller heads were, are they? He would've been down there gettin' 'em spun up but good!

Why can't any of the Administrators pick up the phone and call GB'er & politely ask what's up ?…..If you don't know the number it's easy to get, it's public information 😉

While i can appreciates the humor in this, the chances are very good that the forums are running on some sort of Linux since they are built upon cloud based, open source software which most often is based on the Linux kernel and I am also sure that it is being caused by the "server side" software so any of us using a Linux "client side" would still be out of luck…😂
nerd. 😂

@Kevin_L well ya maybe, although I fit more the definition of a geek… maybe a nerdy geek while I picture you as more of a geeky dork! 🤣

Hard for me to believe that it would take a week for the Powers That Be to restore our forum. Our forum doesn't make GB any money. I think our forum is gone.
Goodbye, HighTechRedneck
Goodbye, DennisNielsen and Little Buck. It has been nice.
"Has anybody here, seen my old friend General Discussion
Can you tell me where its gone..
Thought I saw it walkin' up over the hill
With Abraham, Martin Luther and John
Didn't you love, the things that General Discussion stood for,
Didn't General Discussion try, to find some good, in you and me,
And we'll be free, someday…"

Right allen griggs, the forum doesn't directly make money for GB Inc. It does promote firearm interest and that can often lead to folks looking (and buying) from the auction side. It did for me decades ago. Many, if not most, of those 70 or so firearms Kasey sold for me when I sold a portion of my collection came from purchases on the auction side.

We need him back in the saddle and then promote him to Major 😊, he wouldn't put up with this crap for days on end. The military teaches one to make a decision right or wrong, if it turns out to be wrong we'll deal with it later but someone needs to make a decision. He was a decision maker for sure.

I'd just say that we all should just clam down and think of this week of adjustment as Forum Category Appreciation Week! 🙂
Besides, General Discussion gets a bit too much glory for being so……..so general. 😁

He was also part owner. He had all the controls buttons in front of him. Those are not available to forum staff.

Don't want to step on any toes but I'm not to far from Kennesaw…..want me to drop in and snoop around ? incognito of course. 😆

On the main page of the forums, I just noticed a banner from HQ saying they are aware of and working on the problem. That's good. Shouldn't be too long now.

Banners been there for a couple hours since we had contact finally from HQ, but may still be awhile, hang in there folks.

I'm not a computer whiz and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn last night so I'm gonna go ahead and ask what is probably a silly question. On the machines I've used there are 'restore points' so that you can basically turn back the clock on the machine to a previous configuration. Do the servers that the forums operate on have a similar system?

I don't think our server is that up to date. But it is being addressed.

Did someone leave a virus where they weren't suppose to? I'm not wearing a mask.

Any guess is a good guess. Be careful out there.

I don’t think there is much of Gunbroker left in Kennesaw. When Ammo inc bought them I think most of Gunbroker was consolidated into Ammo inc offices out in Arizona

Well, one thing's for sure. This has definitely given us something new to talk about!

Short answer, yes they probably could revert back to before the issue, but they won't it would not be cost effective.
Longer answer is this is not a single computer it is a network of many (aka cloud) and if important enough it would be replicated to more than one site with fail over capabilities, I doubt this is the case for us.. Besides I'm pretty sure the issue wasn't caused by an equipment failure, more likely by somebody doing something without realizing the consequences. Can't say 100% on that but the symptoms are pointing to that. my 2 cents from a retired ":computer whiz" 😁

maybe Rocky sabotaged it so the world would go to Linux……………

Well, from what I have read Gunbroker has about 35-40 employees, the CEO is in Arizona as are the other execs. I think who is in GA. are the software and digital marketing people

This Gunbroker site was updated 19 days ago and say's they're still in Kennesaw, also the Georgia Secretary of State's web site say's it's still a Georgia corporation, I'll find out for sure later this week when I go up to visit a few friends. You very well could be right due to the fact we're having all these site problems lately.

I could be the poster boy for that Ditch-Runner. I've been walking around aimlessly, bumping into walls, and mumbling to myself. 😉
