I learned the hard way how to take them apart did not break any thing but it not easy at first

me commom sense and later on the nra books on disassemble guns were great help

    About 30yrs ago ?

I bought some and some jennings from dealer friend at the time less than 50.00 each dealer cost

I gave them to family as Christmas presents along with a box of ammo to each one I test fired each one all worked fine

Some of them had been asking me for a gun to have at home, just in case

I knew they were inexpensive and would never hold up to a real workout but to put in a drawer and one in ten thousand chances of being fired was my guess but gave them peace of mind to have it

When my dad passed I got his back still in the box with the ammo as I guessed

my SIL still has hers never fired since I gave it to her

My MIL' s her oldest son (RIP to both )got it and traded it off at some point my guess for drugs and said mom didn't need a gun she had had it for years before he took it

My BIL( RIP) traded his on a highpoint 45 acp so at least he used it to upgrade

My brother( RIP) some years later after he got his taken away by a woman bartender LOL

I still have my dad's and one kept just to have around

I think beter than nothing and they do go bang , a lot better than a rock if truly called on buti would not trust one after a couple hundred roundshad been fired off Thru it

Now the market is full of plastic inexpensive pistols 100% beter and not a budget busting purchase , but back then

Not every one could buy nice S&W

They still sell at the gun shows. But now in the box with paperwork you can get 150.00.
Had a customer bring me 3 of the unfired in mint boxes. They didn't make it through the first day of the show.
