I have this old gun
Actually, it's my brother in law's.
Wondering about the flaming bomb and "Military Finish"
Also, it has some type of screw in choke.
Any thoughts?

Model 11 Remington. From what I understand many of those were used to train arial gunners in WW2

Military use in the beginning. Flaming bomb is the mark for such firearms.
Finish I would think is parkerized.
Have no clue about knot on the end of barrel.

The knot on the end of the barrel looks like my missing ratchet.

"Finish I would think is parkerized."………….no, they were 'blued', just not polished as much as a commercial shotgun.

A number of questions,
There is a serial number under the barrel by the ring, does it match the serial number on the receiver? assuming it is a Remington mdl 11.
Is there a choke imprinted on the barrel, full, modified, IC, Cyl ? What I'm looking for if an aftermarket screw in choke was installed. If is shows Full, it would be hard to make it into trench gun as they were stamped Cyl.
The background is busy and I cannot tell if the end of the barrel has a ramp sight, looks like it.
They must have crimped the end of the barrel putting on the choke, is it smooth all the way inside, or do you see the crimp inside?

After further inspection, the barrel and serial numbers do not match. The choke appears to be pressed in. But I can't feel a ridge inside. The choke has opposing notches at the front, but I'm not going to attempt to remove it. bThe barrel is marked "cyl".
Thanks, Thorhammer.
