'Above the law' based on political privilege.
"You can't arrest me. I'm a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (fill in the blanks). Locally, a Prosecuting Atty sprung his dope dealing family member and later managed to clear himself of drug possession claiming he was 'holding evidence' in a case. Circuit Judge was arrested for taking bribes and sweeping drug cases under the rug. County Commissioner was outed for using county equipment for his personal projects. These are just the small time incidents that I personally witnessed.

Sometimes when I read this stuff I wonder if they actually forgot a gun was with them.
