That is a lot of moving !!! Keep your head down, hopefully the weather there clears up without too many issues.

Yep, it has been a lot….a move every 18 to 24 months for a couple decades or so. But, I always see your "Pics from around the Farm" posts, and it gives me hope that more settled, rural days may be in the future for the Frogdog family.

We were so tired of moving….then we got out (free?) and have moved twice in four years…and are preparing to move again. Between kids in college, aging relatives, hunting opportunities, etc. seems like life keeps getting in the way. Best of luck as you sort things out…and stay dry.

I can not imagine moving that much

Well, I just wrapped up what I expect to be my last involuntary move, this time to the Tampa area. Got my truck unloaded just in time for the rain to start, and it's been pouring all day today, with more to come. Seems like every time we do this, there is some kind of tornado, hurricane, wild-fire, flood, or something right in the middle of it. We've seen about everything.

One thing is for sure….I have had enough moving! Can't wait to settle down back in the Blue Ridge and stick to one place.

    Are you military?

Yep. I signed up for this, so guess I shouldn’t complain too much about the moves. Just get worn out after a while, especially as the household (and all our junk) has grown.

I get that, my Dad was career Navy and we moved just about once a year until I was 11 when we moved to Daytona (my Dad's last duty station) he was Executive Officer of the Naval Reserve training center there. He retired after that and we never moved again.

    A man needs roots somewhere.

Daughter's in Tampa. So far this year they've only had 2 hurricanes. Have no fear. The season is still YOUNG😲

Not counting temporary assignments, I've lived in 6 houses during my life AND I CAN WALK FROM WHERE I LIVE NOW TO ANY ONE OF THOSE PLACES IN AN HOUR. Don't move around much.😀

    Well?? How you doing??

Still in it, with a ways to go till we’re organized. My Penske truck (aka the “Gun, Garden, and House-Plant Mobile” was just step 1. The “professional” movers showed up Thurs. Every move is luck of the draw on these government paid moves, and the company that got our contract this round was a real circus. Lots of damage, and very little care taken in packing. That’s okay, though. I know the claims process inside out, and I will show no mercy when I hold them accountable. It’s all a process, and I have a system to work through it. I’m a reasonable person, but I also expect reasonable care.

As always happens during the moves, other problems seem to pile on at the worst times. The AC in one of the main family vehicles went out, which ain’t great in Tampa, but at least it made it through the trip down. Had a main line plumbing/drain issue yesterday, but at least the plumber came promptly and was able to clear the lines (after a few hours).

In the end, it’s all tracking like most of our other moves. Just got to keep a cool head and keep things in perspective. Folks out there all over the place have real problems. These are just minor annoyances.

Glad it's coming together, sorry for the hassles and damages . I would be pretty upset over that. Good luck going forward.

Hang in there Frogdog, keep your head down and move forward.

I m sure that you have a system by now, and then this and that pops up, oh boy I know.

Moving is a drag, and doing it that much really cuts down on the stuff that you can accumulate.
