Check out eBay. I've found all sorts of remotes there over the years.

BTW.......most remotes soft keypads allow fingertip body oil to penatrate to the circuit board and contaminate the keypad contact points....…i.e.......they don't last forever without cleaning.

    Hope this helps.

He Dog - You don't know what you're missing. Besides that's just on the weekends I marathon movies and tv shows on DVDs like that.

62vld2042 - I did that on the remote that just died. The other remote I took apart had moisture under the key pad. I took some lighter fluid and a paper towel to the board to rub off some gummy rubber residue?

Left too long.....…the oily gunk will actually eat through copper circuit runs on the board surface. Disclosure.......I'm currently having to repair 13 separate foil breaks on an old Hitachi VCR remote.🤯

62vld2042 - Say that remote have a cord attached to the VCR? Like the old mouse for PCs.

No one looks in the remote other than to change out the batteries. Some may clean it out if the battery crusts out (this happens more frequently these days).

It depends on the keypad construction. Ya have to open it up to find out.

As for leaking alkaline batteries.......if the remote is important/expensive.......switch to lithium-ion.

    Hope this helps.
