Sounds like a great ride, Rocky. Since you will be the navigator, can you steer them all over the place and get a longer ride?

Be sure to log as many landings as you do take offs.

On the one hand, it was just another short airplane ride like thousands of others I've made.

But it was in a B-29!

The Nav seat has a small window, thankfully. The nav instrument panel blocked the forward view, mostly, which was a disappointment. Fall colors on the mountains, smooth air, and a sunset landing. Memories to treasure, for sure.

B-24 flew over me in Spanish Fork a few days ago, Here for the WIngs and Wheels. I believe rides are available in it as well.

I've had rides in a B-17 and now a B-29. I'd love to get a ride in a fighter type, but with my back I'm afraid my yank and bank days are over.

Rocky, which B-17 did you have a ride in?

I had to look it up. At the time, it was called "Madras Maiden" but has since been sold and is now called "Ye Olde Pub".

Never heard of that one. The fella I built the Spitfire for flew for the Confederate Air Force and got to fly Sentimental Journey and the German Heinkel and others. The Heinkel was destroyed after he quit flying for them.
Glad you got to get one more item done from your bucket list.

Just googled Ye Old Pub. It is based in Madras Oregon not far from where lived a few years ago. It is in the Erickson Aviation Museum.

"Be sure to log as many landings as you do take offs."………….take-offs are optional………..landings are mandatory

MW: every pilot straps in for his final flight.

The lucky ones know it when they do.

If it's 2 years older than you wouldn't that be a biplane instead of a bomber? 😉

    Not quite, Smitty…LOL!
