The Breaks of Moving….No Hunting for Me This Year 😢
Sadly, I have quickly found out that the hunting prospects surrounding Tampa are the pits. Not much in the way of public land opportunities nearby except the Ocala National Forest, which I’ve been told is madness, and private land is locked down with high dollar leases. Sure will hurt to be shut out this year. Guess I better get out the kayaks and rods and get back into fishing.
Can’t wait to settle down somewhere where I can have some space and consistency for hunting season. I can’t understand why folks voluntarily live in places like this with so many people squished in like sardines.

Do like the rest of the Floridians, come up to Georgia and pay WAY more for the Ga lease. Thats what happens here, our leases are taken by Florida people and they drive the costs WAY up in the process.

Haven't been hunting for 12 years now. Sure miss it.

If you're a muzzleloader, elk season just started in Colorado. Rifles for elk hunting begins in a month.
Lots of great places to go if you want to get a biggun.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. You can hunt pythons 365 days a year in south Florida, no bag limit. Think of the steaks you can slice off of an 18 foot python.

I thought about that when we lived in Miami, but quickly realized I wanted no part of the Everglades. Too hard to get around without a swamp buggy. We trained out there at a place near Immokalee, and it was wild. Pythons, bears, gators, cougars…everything.
As to the steaks, I’ll just have to make up for it with fishing. Luckily, I killed 12 deer last year, so plenty of venison, although the kids are really eating through it fast.

One day. I still regret not getting out there with over-the-counter tags when we were stationed in the Springs, but my wife was so sick at the time, I just couldn’t do it.

The Free state of Kentucky is call your Name.
Climate is not too bad, year round, Hunting and Fishing is great. We have Deer and Turkey all around us. Lakes are 20 mins down the road.
Politics are not too bad. Except for the Big Cities.
