Good gun and round combination and they should do the trick. I've been wearing transition lenses for 20+ years and have never had them cause a scope problem, even out to 500yds on prairie dogs. They key is consistent gun mounting and cheek placement. Of course if anyone else looks through my scope, odds are it is blurry because the focus is set for that one spot on my lenses that lines up when I shoulder the rifle. I hope your hunt goes well and it is any easy pack out when you get your critter down. Bob

It is probably your glasses not the Nikon. My Nikons have been 100% reliable. My transition lenses not so much.

Moreso the magnification. I'd like to go beyond 9x.

That 30-06 and bullet combination should do the job quite well. Good Luck to you and have a safe hunt.

Three high at 100, and 1 high at 200. That should get the job done, elk have big lungs, certainly bigger than the whitetail.

I hope you got suckers (I mean friends) to help you haul if you drop one.

Bad knees and bad back means, yes, I do. My son guides PT and knows the situation.

.30-06? Good Lord in Heaven, man! That cartridge design is 118 years old! You can't possibly kill an elk with that! At least get something more modern, say, a .270 Winchester or something. 118 year old cartridges…. Phhttt! What is this world coming to?

No. Those areas on Deseret Land are all CWMU or private hunting preserves to my knowledge.

9x, man that is a small field of view. Hope you have good binos for spotting.

    Best of luck!

And tell us when to be there for dinner, I'll bring wine...
