Good for you both. I really need to move more, but haven't yet.

Great job getting back out there. Stick with it. Keep moving as much as you can for as long as you can.

Also, stick with the regular bikes. Folks will try to tell you to get the electric assist bikes that are all the rage now. Don’t do it. So many people out there (my parents included) ride those things and think they’re getting good exercise, but are doing virtually nothing. My folks used to ride 20-30 miles some days and were really doing well for their age. Then they got the electric bikes. Now, they’re in the worst shape I’ve ever seen them in, and declining rapidly.

Yep, I would agree the e-bikes do have a place. Definitely not all bad. If there are true physical limitations, they can be great means of helping folks at least get outside and do some activities. Like you said…. Better than nothing. Problem that I saw with my parents is that, at first, they said they would just use the e-assist for big hills. Then they started using e-assist all the time. Before you knew it, they were just riding around using the electric motor alone (no pedaling at all). Noticed the same with my aunt and uncle and some other older friends.

In any case, enjoy yourself. Biking is a great way to spend time together, and there are a lot of nice paved trails popping up all over the place (e.g. “Rails to Trails” program).

Agree trails evey where the one we have been on follows the old Erie canel in our area we start just behind a old and in use cemetary just out side sidney oh

But many trairs around in many in local parks and old RR beds all made nice for walking and biking trails one follows the river to Cincinnati

Any way hope to stick with it

We just have some old bikes, two "cruser " or beack bikes there caled single speed we brought on vacation about 10 years ago at wally world to ride while in south Carolina and a few 10 or 12 speed road bikes I bought some time ago for us next time I plan on using them to take advantage of the gearing on the hills LOL

I use to love to ride my bicycle al the time when I first met my wife to be i bought her a bike even after we were married up to the first kid about 4 years after our wedding , we would go bike riding in the country then it just added away

When the boys got older I bought them biks and we would go riding but that too just faded away

So now we are going to start again

I did notice my skill and cordnation i use to have on a bike has disappeared for the most part

Yes it is! Good for Mr. and Mrs. DR. Keep on keepin' on. Keep on pushing without overdoing it, and some of that pain will disappear.

The best part about e-bikes is they get people out and moving around. Just be sure to get one that's decent. Crummy e-bikes are especially dangerous due to inadequate brakes and suspect Chinese wiring of Chinese batteries.

I am deaf in my left ear and am down to about 60% in the right. Can't hear traffic coming from behind has pretty much stopped my riding . Too many illegals and folks on cell phones on the road to feel comfortable on the highway any more .

I was pretty heavy into distance bicycle riding in the late 1980's. Now that it is about 35 years later.......I am reminded of a very old.......and very important axiom.

"There are two kinds of bike riders.........those who have crashed......and those who are going to crash."🤕

    Words to live by........😉

BTW.......I'm also reminded of my wife's mint condition.......and VERY safe......stationary recumbent exercise bicycle.😇😎
