Question for you food experts.
I enjoy eating some thin sliced summer sausage, pepperjack cheese, hot mustard, on Ritz crackers for a snack now and then. My question is if I open the original sealed package can I freeze perhaps half of it for later?

Freezing the summer sausage? Freeze it

I understand Lady Rae. It does sound like a contradiction in terms! 😉
It lasts refrigerated for a few days but then gets moldy. That's why I thought I could eat half and freeze the other half for later. It's not something I want to eat every day.

Get one of these and some of the FoodSaver re-usable bags. We keep sliced summer sausage, cheese, etc. fresh for weeks in the fridge with one of these things. Don't waste your time with the FoodSaver handheld, they don't hold up. The Vesta works great!

Yes you can freeze it just do it when you open the original package after taking what you want, then wrap it up good.

Another vote for vacuum sealing, we buy cold cuts on sale and freeze the excess.

Vacuum seal in food saver bags and it will last 10 times longer. In the freezer up to 2 years no problem as long as the seal doesn’t break and allows air in.

Summer sausage popsicle? That sounds good on a hot summer day.

Thanks for the advice folks. I'll go ahead and freeze half for a few months. If you stop hearing from me this winter, you were wrong!
