Running the Train
It's funny how someone's offhand comment on here can bring back memories from years ago. Horse Plains Drifter's comment in the Mustang Thread (“I can't do nuttin''bout no green font. I just work here “) took me back to my junior high band director's office where there was this sign:
I'm not allowed to run the train, blow the whistle, nor ring the bell.
But let the d***** thing jump the track and just see who catches h***.

LOL. Yep.

That saying came from the maintenance of way workers on the railroad, the ones that inspected and maintained the tracks.

The Train]
by AnonymousIt's not my job to run the train,
The whistle I don't blow.
It's not my job to say how far
The train's supposed to go.
I'm not allowed to pull the brake,
Or even ring the bell.
But let the damn thing leave the track
And see who catches hell!
