Current policy:
Users are no longer required to pay a $1 activation fee.
Policy prior to February 20, 2018:
We charge users of free email services, such as Gmail, Yahoo, or AOL, or services which we have identified as employing a loose identity verification protocol, a one-time activation fee of $1.00 to verify their identity.
The $1 fee is applied to your account when you submit your information for activation. The charge is due regardless of whether the account is successfully activated, and the fee is non-refundable.
We charge no recurring membership fees. We charge no fees to bidders or buyers who register with a corporate, government or ISP email address, such as Comcast, ATT, or Roadrunner.
Reference to the fee during registration:
We make sure users understand and agree to the charge before activating their account. The $1 charge appears on the registration page. Additional notifications appear when the user enters the email address information. We also ask users to agree to the charge when confirming contact information.
Reason for activation fee:
Free email providers have loose registration processes, and generally do not verify the user’s identity. By making sure the buyer and the seller are who they say they are, we can reduce fraud on our site and make sure your experience at GunBroker.com is safe.
